The motors have a good amount of power, and 10 settings for power/speed. If you crank it to 10, it is fast enough to derail itself around a bend, so I'm happy with the way these perform.
While I do think Legos are pricey, they do make top quality products, and their customer support has been fantastic for as long as I can remember. Very very rarely have I ever had any missing or broken pieces, and they've never given me hassle when I brought an issue to them.
If you watched the video, you'll notice I bought 2, and combined them. Neither set was missing a single piece, and as usual, had some extras. It is possible, and easy, to sync multiple "engines" to a single remote.
