- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2015Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseThis set it great. I'll keep this review quick and simple. this advanced tie fighter is beautiful. the new cockpit is welcome break from traditional blocky one thats been used for a while. The ship is simple and sleek, not too much extra greebling on it. it definitely has that TIE feel while still being somewhat fresh
the only part of the ship i didnt love was the back. they sacrificed making a decent back in order to have some spring loaded missile action. I like how they did that, but it takes away from gorgeous lines of the rest of the ship. i also wasnt a fan of how the spring loaded shooter are the only visible weapons. it makes the ship a little plain when they are not inserted in there.
The minifigs are cool, especially the Inquisitor. He armor and helmet piece are amazing and push the limits of what lego can do. his lightsaber is also great and attaches to his armor...he's a great figure. the officer and pilot are you standard army building fare, nothing to be excited about...although i do like the tan outfit on the officer.
pros
great looking ship
great price if you can find it on sale ...i got it here for $31
inquisitor minifig is a must, even if you dont watch SW Rebels.
VERY swooshable
cons
price ( get it on sale! )
perhaps a bit small, but i only thought that right after the build was finished.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2015Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseThis is a great model of the concept fighter that bridges the classic hexagon TIE design with Darth Vader's Advanced TIE. The minifigures are fantastic and the build is very solid. If your kids like to "fly" their LEGO Star Wars sets around the house, this is a fantastic set to get as it's solid and fun for them to extend/retract the folding wings. If you can catch it at a sale price, definitely pick one up!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2016Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseGreat figs, great build, nice looking ship. Can't cry about this one as the ship is a fun quick build with great techniques. All 3 figs look great, even the Officer, as he has a stressed out look on his face which is awesome. The inquisitor, is just phenomenal. That will be a fig that I don't get rid of ever. Get this set while you can!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2016Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseI got this for my husband for Christmas and he loved it! We can't wait to move into our new place so we can hang it from the ceiling! The set is very detailed and had some decals that had to be put on, but it was so worth the proper placement and he had so much fun building it. The "beams" fire very well and are actually powerful and can knock over other figures (we shot at our X wing and AT-ST and knocked both over). The only thing bad I could say about this is that the wings do not support the weight of it, and if you have it sitting on a shelf the bottom of it must be supported for it to stand. I kept some of the figures and the mini Death Star and Naboo next to it for comparison. If you have a Star Wars fan who loves to collect the Legos, this is a must buy!!!!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2016Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseMy 12 year old grandson requested a much bigger more pricey Star Wars legos set, but because of my budget, I was unable to order that one. Dismayed, I happened to come across this set which looks like it is as advanced as the more expensive set is. I'm convinced my grandson will be pleased with this as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2016Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseSlightly wider but shorter than Darth Vader's personal Tie Fighter model, This is more portable due to the folding wings. It's a solid-feeling build, but very easy to hold in one (adult) hand.
Three figures seems one too many for this set. Since it is the Inquisitor's personal Tie Fighter it doesn't really need a separate Tie Pilot, but at least they're being generous, and maybe this is the reserve pilot who ensure the Tie is available whenever the Inquisitor needs it. .
I don't care for the mechanism for firing the missiles, it's too loose and easily twitched into firing a missile when you don't want to. I shall probably remove part of this, since the missiles can still be loosed without using the mechanism at all. To me it is over-complicated while adding nothing positive to the looks or play value of the model.
Overall I'm glad to have added this to my Star Wars fleet, but it'll be modified to reduce unwanted missile launches.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2016Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseI bought this as a birthday present for a friend (in his 40s) and he loved it. Of course, he's just a big kid so that was to be expected. Legos are pretty much something you don't ever outgrow, so that 8-14 age range is really just a suggestion ;)
He said that the instructions were easy to follow and there weren't any pieces missing, so on that note it was perfect. I'm hoping they come out with more of these related to the new Star Wars movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Model. Great Value.
Color: Multi-coloredVerified PurchaseWith the coming advent of the new wave of Star Wars movies promising to clear the bitter aftertaste of the prequels from our collective mouths, it's great to see a classic design returned to the shelves. This kit delivers equal amounts of nostalgia, cool factor and value for money and I love where Lego is taking this brand in both it's aesthetic direction and it's pricing.
